  • We seem to be getting a trickle more investors in Panama. Most of them buy an ocean front condo to rent out. A furnished condo is under $200,000 in many areas, sometimes less. The problem with condos are the HOA fees. The good thing is there is usually in-house property management for absentee investors.

But one guy I know has been buying ocean front lots for $25,000 each then building rental houses for about $30SF. They rent, furnished, for $650 – $750. If the total price, is $120,000 or less, there are no property taxes… ever! House insurance would be about $200 a year for this.

In Panama, you can rent, or NOT rent, to who ever you want to rent to. You can deny anyone for any reason. You don’t have to register your rentals with code enforcement. There is no inspection in between tenants.

And, if you live overseas full time and act as your own property manager, you can make $105,000 in income but owe no taxes in the US and very very low taxes in Panama.

I don’t know what the rules are in other countries overseas.

Would you invest overseas to diversify your income sources??
