Jackie had suggested that I find/use an Enrolled Agent to set up my accounts for managing my rentals (master leases, sandwich, plus own rentals, etc)and for my real estate income, in general…
She had said this would be less expensive than using a CPA etc…
Does anyone know “HOW” to find a qualified, honest, (audit proof?) Enrolled Agent?In 411.com for my area; I see 300 Enrolled Agents listed in a town of perhaps 15,000 people….
How do I pick one?
How do I make sure they are honest, qualifed in real estate, etc.thk you.
dFind one who lives close to you.
Find out if they help other investors with their books
If they actually OWN investment properties it is a HUGE PLUS! I would rather NOT work with anyone who does not own investment properties because they are the only ones who really understand.
A surprising thing I found when I was interviewing enrolled agents and CPA;s is that many of them have filed bankruptcy. I’m talking about 50 – 60% of the ones I talked to. I definitely do not want to work with an enrolled agent who can’t manage their own finances.
