I was putting out flyer yesterday afternoon for our first Down Payment Highest Bidder Sale, and got hassled by the local mailman. He was going around behind me and and taking the flyers off the red flags on the mail boxes where i was putting the flyers. Came up next to me and started giving me a hard time. He said my favorite line “You can’t do that…” and i gave my favorite response “Why?” I tried to pin him down on why and all he could say concretely was “It’s against postal regulations” and i asked him repeatedly if it was against the law, and he said no but that it was against postal regulations. So i never could get an actually “You are breaking law XYZ section 4a etc…” out of him. ANy one else ever get hassled about putting out flyers?

You can’t put fliers INSIDE of a mail box unless there is a stamp on it. I don’t know the regulation but remember reading it a long time ago

I don’t know of any laws against putting the flyer outside the mailbox
