Identity theft is not only targeted just at adults. There is a huge under-reported incidence of stealing children’s identity (which typically won’t be revealed for many years, because nobody’s watching), and running up huge debts. By the time the child has come of age and wants a job, a student loan, a car loan, etc, there is a nasty mess to try and clean up — first.
