Rent controls are spreading across the United States unfortunately

Inglewood Passes Emergency Rent Control Ordinance
If you’re a landlord, including Master Leasing, be sure to stay up to date on what’s happening with rent control proposals in your area. Attend meetings and voice your opinion. If you give them an inch today, they will want to take a mile next year.
Before I left the Dallas area, the City required all rentals to be registered with Code Enforcement. Then they required a fee for this service ($55 a year per property). Then they wanted all the information on each tenant. Then they required that there be an inspection in between each tenant AND utilities could not be turned on until the inspection was complete and anything they demanded be done was completed.
Rent controls are another way to go down the slippery slope.
