This article takes a decidedly libertarian approach in favor of abolishing single family housing zoning. I suspect “the devil is in the details.” If such rules open up the possibility of adding a “granny flat” in one’s backyard, that shouldn’t create a problem. But if such zoning changes make it possible to put in a government voucher supported multi-family apartment complex next door, that could cost nearby single family property owners a significant loss in property values.
