Innovation Sets Your Apart From Your Competitiors

If you didn't get turned off by the last post, let's see if we can amplify it a little. Can you look back at anything you've ever created, whether it were a completely new idea, or a new application of an old idea? If not, why not? Is it because you are afraid that your ideas are no good? Is it because you're lazy? Is it because you realize that you don't know enough about what you are doing to stray off the path that was beaten down by others who were more knowledgeable, more energetic, or more courageous than you?

Does that mean you are willing to settle for only marginal sucecss doing the same things that your competition is doing to gelan your meager share of opportunity? Or would you like to rise to the top where you have a virtual monopoly because you've found a way to be different?

You may not be able to think up a brand new idea, but you might easily be able to do something that nobody else in your immediate vicinity is doing to give yourself an edge over your competition. What might this be? Have you physically knocked on doors to find both sellers and buyers? Have you pursued foreclosed owners to solicit them as tenants? Have you ever held a “Tenant Auction” where applicants have to compete on the basis of credit scores, deposits, rents, and lengths of the leases? Built into your rents, have you offered lawn, pool, and house maintainence services to cover the premises and the appliances? Do you regularly meet with and cooperate with other cooperative entrepreneurs to find and pass along “how to” tips on all aspects of the housing business including available institutional and private financing, property opprotunities, tenants, fruitful web sites, cross-marketing, names of capable workers and professionals?

Be honest, have you ever even considered doing the above? Is this an example of ways that old methods can be improved? Is getting these insights one of the reasons you signed up (or if your reading the blog, might sign up) for cashflowdepot.com?
